Bullet point icon Relationships

Relationships can be an extremely sensitive area for people and we can advise and assist in resolving difficulties in many ways.

We can provide you with advice and assistance about local agencies that offer counselling to help you and your partner work through the difficulties in your relationship. Such agencies will discuss with your partner and yourself all aspects of your relationship including finances, sexual difficulties and issues of concern involving your children.

One of the aims of counselling is to try to save your relationship where it is under stress or to establish a reconciliation where the relationship has broken down. Another may be to explore whether there is any basis for continuing with the relationship, and if so what has to happen to make this possible. Not uncommonly, a couple may disagree about the future of their relationship: one wishing to end it and the other to continue it. Counselling may assist them to come to their own conclusion, whether this proves to be preserving the relationship or bringing it to an end.

Mediation does not aim to save the relationship but instead seeks to reduce bitterness and help the parties reach an amicable agreement rather than reverting to the Courts for assistance with the consequences of the relationships breakdown.
